Today we made the 2 hour drive down to Draper, UT to attend the temple open house. I really wanted Kylie to have the experience of walking through a temple because I have a very vivid memory of being younger than her and going with my parents to an open house for the Manti Temple when it was re-dedicated. That was a very powerful experience, even as young as I was, and left impressions in my heart and mind about the sanctity of the temple. It was also my first experience feeling and recognizing the Holy Spirit warming my heart.
Brian, Kylie, me, and my littlest sister Joe'E (15, and taller than me!) drove down to Draper (in record time!) and watched a short video about temples and the history of Draper. The video features photographs of select rooms within the Draper Temple. Throughout the video Kylie would exclaim, "Awesome!" She would look up into our eyes with delight shining from her precious little face. As we walked through the temple, her eyes roved all about, trying to take it in. I believe her favorite part was seeing the baptismal font. She was excited to learn that she could do baptisms when she turned 12. Once we exited the temple we were directed to a nearby church where the church held a reception for those attending the open house. It was a beautiful display of temple pictures, quotes, etc.
Afterwards we made a special stop at Chuck E Cheese's, one of Kylie's favorite places in the world. Brian was so excited to finally hit the jackpot on a certain game, which spewed forth 25 tickets per jackpot. He's been trying to figure out the secret to this game for awhile.
Joe'E at the reception. They really went all-out! It was beautiful!
Brian said his cookies were the best. He REALLY liked them.
Joe'E wasn't very happy about going to Chuck E Cheese's. Ha ha ha ha! She's gonna kill me.
Holy crap, I have 3 chins!
I finally got Joe'E to stop crying (kidding) and we had fun playing games...in our church clothes.
Cute girls!
