This Week In Pictures

This week Kylie finished another wildly successful round of swimming lessons at the Sports Academy. She loved her teacher Arianne (not pictured) who helped her overcome her fear of putting her face in the water faster than I could have ever imagined. Kylie loves to swim now, which is a huge relief to me since I'm still trying to convince myself that it's okay to put my own face in the water. It mostly has to do with the fact that I sink, not float, and I hate to get my hair wet because then it looks like a badly damaged poodle once it starts to dry and will not be tamed until I commence with the hour-long ritual of coercing it into submission.
The kids love the cheer they do after every class. Who wouldn't?
The best part about swimming lessons is getting to play in the pool afterwards and practice all the cool stuff you learned.

My little sister Joe'E ran away to my house the other night and we made little pizzas. This attempt at throwing the dough isn't as funny as the first attempt...but I never seem to have my camera rolling for the really great stuff.
What you see above is a very gleeful 6 year-old and a mildly annoyed cat. I wish I could have recorded the hilarious game Kylie was playing with Sallie. She decided that Sallie was going to be the mother to her stuffed kitty. She held Sallie down, as pictured, and made Sallie do all sorts of ridiculous things like hug the stuffed kitty and lay there while the stuffed kitty jumped on her stomach. Sallie, being the excellent kitty that she is, simply laid there and swished her tail indignantly. Once I showed up with the camera she thought that was her exit cue and that somehow I was there to save her. Naturally Kylie thought it was hilarious to try to restrain the writhing ball of fur and somehow escaped unscathed. Sallie really is the best cat--she knows not to scratch kids and will only scratch me if I poke at her belly and torment her long enough. Even then I simply have to say, "Soft..." and she immediately backs down. What a cat!
